Sunday Worship Service

August 16, 2026 - 10:30AM

WELCOME
Mr. Peter Ong

CALL TO WORSHIP*
Mr. Peter Ong

Come, worship the Lord, the Giver of wisdom and justice.
When the righteous increase, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.
A righteous person sings and rejoices.
He knows the rights of the poor and turns away wrath with wisdom.
Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed are they who keep the law.
The fear of a person lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.
It is from the Lord that we receive justice. Let us worship Him!

CONFESSION OF SIN*
Together

Father, we confess that we often stiffen our necks against Your correction.
We resist wise reproof and prefer our own way.
We have been quick to anger and slow to restrain our words.
We have spoken hastily, stirred up strife, and failed to turn away wrath.
As parents and children, we have neglected discipline and instruction.
We have left one another without guidance, and brought shame instead of rest.
We have feared people more than we have trusted You.
We have sought approval and justice from others, instead of resting in the safety of the Lord.
We have ignored the needs of the weak among us.
Forgive us for our pride and our lack of wisdom.
Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON*
Mr. Peter Ong

“Whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.” (Proverbs 29:25)In Jesus, God fully forgives all who turn to Him. Children and parents, you are safe in His love. Receive His mercy and walk in His grace.

CONFESSION OF FAITH*
The Westminster Larger Catechism
Together

Each Sunday, we will go over a few questions and answers from the Westminster Larger Catechism to help children and adults grow in understanding and apply God’s Word in daily life.

The Confession of Faith, the Larger Catechism, and the Shorter Catechism together are called the Westminster Standards, produced by the Westminster Assembly in England between 1643 and 1649. They provide a faithful summary of Christian doctrine taught in Scripture, guiding the church in confessing and growing in the truths of God’s Word.

The Westminster Standards help us:

  • Grow in theological clarity and understanding of Scripture.

  • Develop spiritual formation for all ages.

  • Maintain unity in belief, confessing the same truths together.

  • Connect with a rich historical legacy of faithful Christians who have used these standards to guide the church.

Q97. What particular use is there of the moral law to regenerate people?
Although those who are regenerate and believe in Christ are delivered from the moral law as a covenant of works, so that they are neither justified nor condemned by it, yet besides the general uses of the law common to them with all people, it is of special use to show them how much they are bound to Christ for his fulfilling it and his enduring the curse of it in their place and for their good. By this they are provoked to more thankfulness and to express it in their greater care to conform themselves to the moral law as the rule of their obedience.

Q98. Where is the moral law given in summary form?
The moral law is given in summary form in the Ten Commandments, which were delivered by the voice of God on Mount Sinai and written by him in two tables of stone. They and are recorded in the twentieth chapter of Exodus. The four first commandments contain our duty to God, and the other six our duty to mankind.

THE LORD’S SUPPER
Together

Parents with Nursery Age Children
All parents in the nursery are invited on Sundays to come inside the sanctuary to receive the elements for the sacrament of communion after the gospel message.

The Lord's Supper is a sacrament instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ as a means of grace for all who trust him as Lord and Savior (1 Corinthians 11:23-26). It is not a Presbyterian supper; it is the Lord's Supper. Therefore, we invite all who are truly trusting Christ and are in fellowship with him to join in this sacrament. Trusting Christ is not just an individual matter, however. It also involves a public confession of Christ leading to membership in his church. If you are not a member of an evangelical church, we welcome you in Christ's name but request that you communicate your faith in Christ to the pastor before partaking. We can arrange such an opportunity if you desire it.

The Bible also teaches that we are to take part in the Lord's Supper with understanding, not superstitiously (1 Corinthians 11:29). And we are to do it honestly, searching our hearts to see if we have freely confessed known sin and are seeking true fellowship with God (v. 28). If you have been clinging to sin, you must confess and forsake it.

Sometimes parents ask if their children can partake. Often parents are able to judge their children's fitness to join with others in the Lord's Supper. But we ask parents to bring their children to the pastor to be asked about their faith and their understanding of what the communion service means so they might regard the Lord's Supper seriously and partake with understanding.

Living Faith Community Church welcomes all baptized Christians who are willing to forsake their sin and trust in Jesus Christ for salvation, and who are members of congregations that proclaim the gospel, to receive the Holy Communion with us.  If you are not able to receive Communion, please use this time to meditate on one of the following prayers.

  • Prayer for those searching for truth: Lord Jesus, you claim to be the way, the truth, and the life. Please do not allow me to be so afraid of the cost of following you, that I fail to consider reasons for doing so. If what you claim is true, please guide me, teach me and show me who you are. Give me an understanding of you that is clear and convincing, and that leads to the life you promise. Amen.

  • Prayer for those taking the Lord’s Supper: Lord Jesus, I bow before you in humility and ask You to examine my heart today. Show me anything that is not pleasing to You. Reveal any secret pride, any unconfessed sin, any rebellion or unforgiveness that may be hindering my relationship with You. I know that I am Your beloved child, having received You into my heart and life and having accepted Your death as penalty for my sinfulness. The price You paid covered me for all time, and my desire is to live for You.
Each time I take communion, Lord, I want to recommit my life, my heart, my thoughts, my everything to You. Fill me today with Your powerful Spirit. As I leave this place, help me to hold this fresh remembrance and the story that never grows old close to my heart. Help me to share its message faithfully as You give opportunity. Amen.

  • Prayer of Belief: Lord Jesus Christ, I believe that you are the Son of God.  I admit that I am a sinner, and am not worthy of your acceptance.  But I believe that you love me, and died on the cross to pay the debt of my sin.  You took what I deserve in order to offer me complete forgiveness.  Knowing that you have been raised from the dead, I turn from my sins and receive you as my Savior and Lord. Amen.

Songs of Grace

Be Thou My Vision
Eleanor Henrietta Hull, Mary Elizabeth Byrne © Public Domain / CCLI #1770735

Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best thought by day or by night
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord
Thou my great Father and I Thy true son
Thou in me dwelling and I with Thee one

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise
Thou my inheritance now and always
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart
High King of heaven, my Treasure Thou art

High King of heaven, my victory won
May I reach heaven’s joys
O bright heaven’s Sun
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall
Still be my vision, O Ruler of all

Love Of God
Benjamin Hastings, Brandon Lake, Cody Carnes, Phil Wickham © Brandon Lake Music; Capitol CMG Paragon; Writer's Roof Publishing; Phil Wickham Music; Simply Global Songs / CCLI #1770735

It’s so good I almost can’t believe it
Far beyond what hearts could ever dream
The God who set the galaxies in motion
Would descend to give His life for me
For what could make perfection bleed for sinners
What leads a King to pay so great a cost
All my life my heart will sing the answer
Only the love of God

Singing oh how great is the love of God
He paid our debt on that rugged cross
For all our days we will sing our Savior's praise
How great is the love of God

It’s so kind it leads us to repentance
It’s so bright the darkness has to flee
Hallelujah it cleared my guilty sentence
For I was bound but now I stand redeemed
For what could break the chains of any prison
What force could rob the power from the grave
What would trade my rags for heaven's riches
Only the love of God

Though I try my mind can’t comprehend it
It’s so high too marvelous for words
I could sing a million songs about it
And barely scratch the surface of Your worth
This all my life the banner I’ll be waving
My anthem cry no matter what may come
And when I rise to walk the streets of heaven
I’ll still be singing this song
For everything that You’ve done
How great the love of God

Speak O Lord
Keith Getty, Stuart Townend © 2005 ThankYou Music / CCLI #1770735

Speak O Lord, as we come to You
To receive the food of Your holy word
Take Your truth, plant it deep in us
Shape and fashion us in Your likeness
That the light of Christ might be seen today
In our acts of love and our deeds of faith
Speak O Lord, and fulfill in us
All Your purposes for Your glory

Teach us Lord full obedience
Holy reverence, true humility
Test our thoughts and our attitudes
In the radiance of Your purity
Cause our faith to rise, cause our eyes to see
Your majestic love and authority
Words of pow'r that can never fail
Let their truth prevail over unbelief

Speak O Lord, and renew our minds
Help us grasp the heights of Your plans for us
Truths unchanged from the dawn of time
That will echo down through eternity
And by grace we'll stand on Your promises
And by faith we'll walk as You walk with us
Speak O Lord, till Your church is built
And the earth is filled with Your glory

Song of Response

Turn Your Eyes
George Romanacce, Helen H. Lemmel, Kevin Winebarger, Nathan Stiff, Nic Trout © 2019 Sovereign Grace Worship / CCLI #1770735

Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace

Turn your eyes to the hillside
Where justice and mercy embraced
There the Son of God gave His life for us
And our measureless debt was erased

Jesus, to You we lift our eyes
Jesus, our glory and our prize
We adore You, behold You, our Savior ever true
Oh Jesus, we turn our eyes to You

Turn your eyes to the morning
And see Christ the Lion awake
What a glorious dawn, fear of death is gone
For we carry His life in our veins

Turn your eyes to the heavens
Our King will return for His own
Every knee will bow, every tongue will shout,
“All glory to Jesus alone!”

Community Group (CG)
Our Community Groups are now open for the year! We want our community groups to be where you can experience what it truly means to belong to a gospel-centered community. Ephesians 2:19 says, “So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.” We were created for connection – not just with God, but with one another. Here are the community groups' details on our website.

  • We are looking for hosts! We need people willing to open their homes to a community group for the year (or even just one semester). If you are interested in hosting, please contact Ken Ng with your information.

Fellowship Ministry

  • Please be mindful of the shared space. Please clean up after yourselves in the Fellowship hall in the basement.

  • If you have a heart of hospitality and would like to serve with a dynamic group of individuals, please join the Fellowship Ministry!

CAC Friendly Reminders

  • Please remember to throw out your small communion cups in the trash on Sundays. Even though they are tiny, they can attract bugs and flies into the sanctuary if left there for a few days. Thank you!

  • The Well Cafe: It has come to our attention that many of our children are not being supervised after service and are hanging out at The Well. Please refrain from occupying that space if you are NOT a patron. Let's respect the business and be mindful of its operations.

  • Please do not flush any sort of sanitizing wipes down any toilet as we have been having plumbing issues on all floors of the building.

  • Let’s be mindful for our worship space and work together to keep it clean and organized.

After-Service this Sunday: Our presider and leader of prayer for today’s service will be available to pray with you towards the stage.

CHILDREN/YOUTH

Children’s Education Ministry:
Please see above for major CEM announcements.

  • Safety Reminders: After service, please keep an eye on your children or make sure there is a grown-up watching them. Let's all work to keep our children safe and be good stewards of the space we rent and our church's belongings. There are signs hanging throughout the basement as reminders. Please follow these guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation!

Youth Ministry

  • If you know any 6th-12th grade students who are interested in checking out our YG, please feel free to get in touch with our Youth Director, Peter Kang at peterkang@lfcc.net.
