WELCOME
Mrs. Ivy Au

CALL TO WORSHIP*
Mrs. Ivy Au
Based on Psalm 98:1-6

Sing a new song to the Lord,
who has worked wonders,
whose right hand and holy arm have brought salvation.
The Lord has made known salvation;
has shown justice to the nations;
has remembered truth and love for the house of Israel.
All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
Shout to the Lord, all the earth, sing out your joy.
Sing psalms to the Lord with the harp,
with the sound of music.
With trumpets and the sound of the horn
acclaim the King, the Lord.

CONFESSION OF SIN*
Together

Merciful God,
you made us in your image,
with a mind to know you,
a heart to love you,
and a will to serve you.
But our knowledge is imperfect,
our love inconstant,
our obedience incomplete.
Day by day,
we fail to grow into your likeness.
In your tender love,
forgive us through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen.

TIME OF SILENT CONFESSION*

ASSURANCE OF PARDON*
Mrs. Ivy Au

Since we are justified by faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
through whom we have obtained access
to this grace in which we stand;
and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God.
Thanks be to God.

CONFESSION OF FAITH*
The Westminster Larger Catechism
Together

Each Sunday, we will go over three questions and answers from the Westminster Larger Catechism to help children and adults grow in understanding and apply God’s Word in daily life.

The Confession of Faith, the Larger Catechism, and the Shorter Catechism together are called the Westminster Standards, produced by the Westminster Assembly in England between 1643 and 1649. They provide a faithful summary of Christian doctrine taught in Scripture, guiding the church in confessing and growing in the truths of God’s Word.

The Westminster Standards help us:

  • Grow in theological clarity and understanding of Scripture.

  • Develop spiritual formation for all ages.

  • Maintain unity in belief, confessing the same truths together.

  • Connect with a rich historical legacy of faithful Christians who have used these standards to guide the church.

Q46. What was the state of Christ’s humiliation?
The state of Christ’s humiliation was the low condition in which, for our sakes, emptying himself of his glory, he took upon himself the form of a servant in his conception, birth, life, death, and after his death, until his resurrection.

Q47. How did Christ humble himself in his conception and birth?
Christ humbled himself in his conception and birth in that, being from all eternity the Son of God in the bosom of the Father, he was pleased in the fullness of time to become the son of man, made of a woman in a state of poverty, and to be born of her, with various circumstances of more than ordinary abasement.

Q48. How did Christ humble himself in his life?
Christ humbled himself in his life by subjecting himself to the Law, which he perfectly fulfilled, and by struggling with the indignities of the world, the temptations of Satan, and the infirmities in his flesh, whether common to the nature of mankind or particularly accompanying his low condition.

THE LORD’S SUPPER
Together

Parents with Nursery Age Children
All parents in the nursery are invited on Sundays to come inside the sanctuary to receive the elements for the sacrament of communion after the gospel message.

The Lord's Supper is a sacrament instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ as a means of grace for all who trust him as Lord and Savior (1 Corinthians 11:23-26). It is not a Presbyterian supper; it is the Lord's Supper. Therefore, we invite all who are truly trusting Christ and are in fellowship with him to join in this sacrament. Trusting Christ is not just an individual matter, however. It also involves a public confession of Christ leading to membership in his church. If you are not a member of an evangelical church, we welcome you in Christ's name but request that you communicate your faith in Christ to the pastor before partaking. We can arrange such an opportunity if you desire it.

The Bible also teaches that we are to take part in the Lord's Supper with understanding, not superstitiously (1 Corinthians 11:29). And we are to do it honestly, searching our hearts to see if we have freely confessed known sin and are seeking true fellowship with God (v. 28). If you have been clinging to sin, you must confess and forsake it.

Sometimes parents ask if their children can partake. Often parents are able to judge their children's fitness to join with others in the Lord's Supper. But we ask parents to bring their children to the pastor to be asked about their faith and their understanding of what the communion service means so they might regard the Lord's Supper seriously and partake with understanding.

Living Faith Community Church welcomes all baptized Christians who are willing to forsake their sin and trust in Jesus Christ for salvation, and who are members of congregations that proclaim the gospel, to receive the Holy Communion with us.  If you are not able to receive Communion, please use this time to meditate on one of the following prayers.

  • Prayer for those searching for truth: Lord Jesus, you claim to be the way, the truth, and the life. Please do not allow me to be so afraid of the cost of following you, that I fail to consider reasons for doing so. If what you claim is true, please guide me, teach me and show me who you are. Give me an understanding of you that is clear and convincing, and that leads to the life you promise. Amen.

  • Prayer for those taking the Lord’s Supper: Lord Jesus, I bow before you in humility and ask You to examine my heart today. Show me anything that is not pleasing to You. Reveal any secret pride, any unconfessed sin, any rebellion or unforgiveness that may be hindering my relationship with You. I know that I am Your beloved child, having received You into my heart and life and having accepted Your death as penalty for my sinfulness. The price You paid covered me for all time, and my desire is to live for You.
Each time I take communion, Lord, I want to recommit my life, my heart, my thoughts, my everything to You. Fill me today with Your powerful Spirit. As I leave this place, help me to hold this fresh remembrance and the story that never grows old close to my heart. Help me to share its message faithfully as You give opportunity. Amen.

  • Prayer of Belief: Lord Jesus Christ, I believe that you are the Son of God.  I admit that I am a sinner, and am not worthy of your acceptance.  But I believe that you love me, and died on the cross to pay the debt of my sin.  You took what I deserve in order to offer me complete forgiveness.  Knowing that you have been raised from the dead, I turn from my sins and receive you as my Savior and Lord. Amen.

Songs of Grace

Who You Say I Am
Ben Fielding, Reuben Morgan © 2017 Hillsong Music Publishing Australia / CCLI #1770735

Who am I that the highest King would welcome me
I was lost but He brought me in, oh His love for me
Oh His love for me

Who the Son sets free, oh is free indeed
I’m a child of God, yes I am

Free at last He has ransomed me His grace runs deep
While I was a slave to sin, Jesus died for me
Yes, He died for me

Who the Son sets free, oh is free indeed
I’m a child of God, yes I am
In my Father’s house, there’s a place for me
I’m a child of God, Yes I am

I am chosen, not forsaken
I am who You say I am
You are for me, not against me
I am who You say I am

Jesus Thank You
Pat Sczebel © 2003 Integrity's Hosanna! Music, Sovereign Grace Worship / CCLI #1770735

The mystery of the cross I cannot comprehend
The agonies of Calvary
You the perfect Holy One, crushed Your Son
Who drank the bitter cup reserved for me

Your blood has washed away my sin
Jesus, thank You
The Father’s wrath completely satisfied
Jesus, thank You
Once Your enemy, now seated at Your table
Jesus, thank You

By Your perfect sacrifice I’ve been brought near
Your enemy You’ve made Your friend
Pouring out the riches of Your glorious grace
Your mercy and Your kindness know no end

Lover of my soul
I want to live for You

Mighty to Save
Reuben Morgan, Ben Fielding © 2006 Hillsong Music Publishing / CCLI #1770735

Everyone needs compassion
A love that's never failing
Let mercy fall on me
Everyone needs forgiveness
The kindness of a Savior
The hope of nations

Savior, He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever, author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave

So take me as You find me
All my fears and failures
Fill my life again
I give my life to follow
Everything I believe in
Now I surrender

Shine your light and
Let the whole world see
We're singing for the glory
Of the risen King, Jesus

Song of Response

Hosanna
Brooke Ligertwood © 2006 Hillsong Music Publishing / CCLI #1770735

I see the King of glory
Coming on the clouds with fire
The whole earth shakes, the whole earth shakes
I see His love and mercy
Washing over all my sin
The people sing, the people sing

Hosanna, Hosanna
Hosanna in the highest
Hosanna, Hosanna
Hosanna in the highest

I see a generation rising up to take their place
With selfless faith, with selfless faith
I see a near revival, stirring as we pray and seek
We’re on our knees, we’re on our knees

Heal my heart and make me clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love like You have loved me
Break my heart for what breaks Yours
Everything I am for Your kingdom's cause
As I walk from earth into eternity

Community Group (CG)
Our Community Groups are now open for the year! We want our community groups to be where you can experience what it truly means to belong to a gospel-centered community. Ephesians 2:19 says, “So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.” We were created for connection – not just with God, but with one another. Here are the community groups' details on our website.

  • We are looking for hosts! We need people willing to open their homes to a community group for the year (or even just one semester). If you are interested in hosting, please contact Ken Ng with your information.

Fellowship Ministry

  • Please be mindful of the shared space. Please clean up after yourselves in the Fellowship hall in the basement.

  • If you have a heart of hospitality and would like to serve with a dynamic group of individuals, please join the Fellowship Ministry!

CAC Friendly Reminders

  • Please remember to throw out your small communion cups in the trash on Sundays. Even though they are tiny, they can attract bugs and flies into the sanctuary if left there for a few days. Thank you!

  • The Well Cafe: It has come to our attention that many of our children are not being supervised after service and are hanging out at The Well. Please refrain from occupying that space if you are NOT a patron. Let's respect the business and be mindful of its operations.

  • Please do not flush any sort of sanitizing wipes down any toilet as we have been having plumbing issues on all floors of the building.

  • Let’s be mindful for our worship space and work together to keep it clean and organized.

After-Service this Sunday: Our presider and leader of prayer for today’s service will be available to pray with you towards the stage.

CHILDREN/YOUTH

Children’s Education Ministry:
Please see above for major CEM announcements.

  • Safety Reminders: After service, please keep an eye on your children or make sure there is a grown-up watching them. Let's all work to keep our children safe and be good stewards of the space we rent and our church's belongings. There are signs hanging throughout the basement as reminders. Please follow these guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation!

Youth Ministry

  • If you know any 6th-12th grade students who are interested in checking out our YG, please feel free to get in touch with our Youth Director, Peter Kang at peterkang@lfcc.net.
